Dragon Ball is the property that made a generation of collectors, and in 2024 Bandai gave it a card game built from scratch: Fusion World. It’s the fourth Bandai line on our shelf, and it earns the space the same way One Piece does — with sealed that people open on release day and chase cards that hold a box’s value.
We carry it because a card shop in Miami that skips Dragon Ball is skipping the character the room grew up with.
What Fusion World is
Every deck is led by a Leader — Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, the names you’d expect — printed on both sides, with an Awakened form you flip to once your life has taken enough hits. Behind the Leader sits a fifty-card deck of battle cards and extras, and in front of you an energy area you build a card at a time, which is what makes the game ramp cleanly instead of stalling.
The turn-to-turn texture is the combo: cards in hand can be thrown into a battle for extra power, so the hand is always a resource and the bluff is always live. Games are fast — twenty-minute rounds at store level — and the pace suits the source material. It plays like a fight, which is the point.
How the community plays it
Organized play runs through Bandai TCG+, the same app as One Piece, Digimon, Union Arena and Gundam. The in-store layer is the quarterly Store Tournament — Vol. 4 runs October 1 to December 31, best-of-one with twenty-minute rounds, and every entrant takes home Tournament Pack 12. Above that, a Store Championship in July and Regionals in two waves feed the Championship 26-27 ladder: the North America Finals in January 2027, and a Grand Final in March.
One Bandai rule shapes everything about how shops handle this line: tournament kits are allocated to a store by the number of players it reported on TCG+ the month before. No reported play, no kits. That’s why we’ll run Fusion World nights as the line requires — and why turning up on one matters more here than in most games.
The state of play in 2026
Bandai has kept a steady rhythm this year. FB09 Dual Evolution landed March 13 alongside two starter decks, FB10 Cross Force on June 12, and the first Story Booster on August 21. FB11 Brightness of Hope releases October 16, and FB12 Reach the God is scheduled for winter 2026 with two more starter decks announced beside it.
On the competitive side, Regionals Wave 2 reaches Milwaukee on October 3 and Washington, DC on October 31 — both on the events board — before the Finals in January. The Store Championship for this season ran in July; the next is a year out.
What we stock, and what we buy
The honest read on Fusion World sealed: prices settle quickly after release and the value concentrates in the secret rares and alternate arts, so a box is worth what its chase cards are worth. We’ll tell you which side of that a set is on when you bring it in, and we price the singles against recent sales, not the listing.
Sealed. Booster boxes from current and recent FB sets, the Story Booster, and starter decks — the starters are the right first buy for someone who watched the show and wants in.
Singles. Secret rares, alternate arts and the Leaders and staples the current meta wants.
What we buy: sealed and secret rares first. Collections, sorted or not. Send a photo and we’ll tell you what you’ve got.
Where to play this season
Open tables on the weekend for now, with Fusion World store tournaments through Bandai TCG+ as the line requires and the room supports — join the opening list and pick Dragon Ball to hear the first date.
